As the school year comes to a close....
I want to thank all my wonderful students for their hard work, enthusiasm and energy that they brought each and every day to my class. You inspire me to be a better teacher and I hope that I inspire you to be better students! During these summer months, please keep creating, experimenting, and enjoying what the world has to offer you! I can't wait to see you again next fall back at Calvert!
Visiting Artist - Michael Burton!

Calvert Elementary welcomed local artist Michael Burton during the first couple weeks of April. Michael came to Calvert to work three times with Ms. McWilliam's 5th grade class on a project, he created, in which students were encouraged to change their original artwork to create a finished collage. He also spent the day on April 4th painting a 5 ft. x 8 ft. piece that will hang permanently in our building upon returning next year (see above). Students from all grades spent 30 min. timeslots where they could watch Michael paint and ask him questions. We thank our PTSO and Arts Are Basic for this unique and wonderful opportunity!
If you would like to see a slideshow of Michael's painting please click here.

HBAL Artwork
Each year the Home Builders Association of Lincoln sponsors an "If I Could Build a House" contest. The contest is open to all 4th and 5th grade students from Lincoln. Schools that choose to participate enter four pieces which are then judged on two levels - school and individual. Overall school winners will receive $500 to enhance their art curriculum and individual winners receive $50. All entries are displayed at the annual HBAL show in February. These are our four entries for 2008 - Calvert won as a school and Taylor won as an individual!
