Welcome to Keyboarding
Course Description
Every student needs proficient computer keyboarding skills for personal, academic, and employment use. Keyboarding develops touch control of the keyboard, proper keyboarding techniques, basic speed and accuracy, word processing, and computer operation skills. Students use these skills to compose and key various documents, e-mail messages, and classwork for other subject areas.
Course Learnings
Computer Keyboarding Operations
1. Demonstrate Proficiency in the Touch System of Computer Keyboarding.
2. Develop Proficient Keyboarding Speed, Accuracy,and Productivity
3. Learn to Operate the Basic Parts of a Personal Computer
4. Demonstrate Proficiency in the Touch System of Numeric Keypad Operation by Entering and Manipulating Numeric Data on a 10-Key Keypad.
Word Processing Layout
5. Students will create and key personal letters
6. Create and key reports, bibliographies/references, and title pages
7. Create and key memorandums and utilize the e-mail
8. Introduce proofreaders' marks and improve proofreading skills
9. Create and key tables
Evaluation
25% Daily Activities (Bell Ringers, Language Skills, Proofreading, Composition etc)
25% Technique Evaluation
25% Timed Writings
25% Word Processing (Letters, reports, memorandums,tables)
Class Procedure
- Upon entering class, read the directions written/projected on the board. Pick up a textbook/handouts and proceed to your assigned seat.
- When the bell rings, you will see a bell ringer activity projected onto the white board. You will have a few minutes to answer the bell ringer and hand in your answers to the teacher.
- The objective(s), procedure and assignment(s) for the day will be projected/written on the white board.
- Follow the directions given orally or written by the teacher for each assignment.
- You will be expected to work all period and turn in all completed assignments to the teacher.
- Four quality standards that must be met before students are excused from class:
- Everyone in their assigned seat & quiet

Room neat

Chairs & tables in the original position
- Books stacked neatly
- Teacher will dismiss class.
Remember
BE SAFE
Take care of school equipment/property.
No pop, or food (including candy and gum) in the computer labs
Clean up your workstation at the end of the class period
BE RESPONSIBLE
In your seat when the bell rings
Be prepared for class
Follow directions the first time they are given
BE RESPECTFUL
Raise your hand and be recognized before speaking
Profanity, rude or vulgar comments or actions will not be allowed
No "Cheating or Plagiarism"
No cell phones and electronic musical devices
Maintain a positive attitude
