Personal:
I was born and raised in Fremont, Nebraska. I have lived in Lincoln since I moved here to attend college. I am married and have two children - Archie and Maggie - twins that were born in 2007.
Education:
I graduated from Fremont High School and then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where I earned my Bachelors of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences Education along with an Endorsement in Health Education. In 2004, I completed my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College. My qualitative research project focused on the impact on student achievement through a brain-based learning environment, an aspect that I still incorporate into my classrooms!
Teaching Career:
After graduating with my bachelors, I substitute taught for a semester in Lincoln Public Schools. I then took a long-term substitute position in FCS at Fremont Middle School. Then, in August 2000 I began teaching Family and Consumer Sciences at Lincoln High School until June of 2006. In August of 2006 I became a KNIGHT and started my teaching career at Southeast High School where I am teaching Family and Consumer Sciences and Health Occupations.
