Diff. Geography Rules and Expectations

Geography – Differentiated

Ms. Folden                                                                                                                                                          Fall 2008

Our goals for the semester are to gain a basic understanding of important geographical themes and to develop an ability to mentally map the world.  We will also look at different parts of the world and examine their physical and human characteristics.

Responsibilities

1)  Bring materials to class everyday.  Each student will have a notebook that they will be required to bring to class everyday.  Failure to do so will mean a loss of points.

2)  If you are given class time to work, use it.  Don't mess around.

3)  RESPECT - respect every person in this class!  Respect their right to learn, to study, and to speak.

4)  Use your head; you know what is expected of you.

5)  You must have a planner to leave class.

Absences

If you are gone from class, guess what.... You need to get the things that you missed from me after school or before school.  I want to devote time specifically to you to help you get caught up.  That requires more than a few minutes.

Grades

Your grade will be based on the percentage of the total points that you have earned.  Grades will be posted online when grades are due and I will also e-mail parents with grades at that time.  During grading periods please come see me if you have questions.

Missing Assignments

All missing work must be made up within 3 days of the due date or your return. Tests and quizzes can be made up until they are returned to the class.  I will not remind you of missing work so please come see me after school the day you return to get make up work or to hand in assignments that were due.

Teacher/Student Work Time: I would love to help you if you are falling behind or just need a little extra help. I am here early everyday but have a 7:00 class.  I also am here after most days until at least 4:00.  But to ensure I am here and not in a meeting please let me know when you would like to meet so I can be in the room. You can e-mail  me at cfolden@lps.org to set up a time or just stop by my room anytime.

Attendance:

It is important that you are in class everyday. Many of the projects that we do will require you to work with others and I know they would appreciate your help.  So be here!  But if you can't and you are excused it is your responsibility to find out what you missed before or after school.  We will follow the LSE attendance policy, which means that after 3 unexcused absences you can be dropped from class. If you miss a lot of class and they are excused then I may arrange for you to receive reduced credit.

Tardy:

If you are late to class you need to fill out a tardy sheet.  Fill it out completely. If you are tardy more than 3 times I will then assign detention for each tardy. On your fifth tardy you can be removed from class.  I give you some free ones so use them wisely.

Extras

The Southeast Rules and Regulations will be followed in this classroom.  If you are not clear about what those are please ask.

Plagiarism will be defined as “the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work”.
