EXPECTATIONS & PROCEDURES
Students will be expected to follow the Scott Middle School behavioral guidelines while in my classroom.
JUST DO THE RIGHT THING!
BE SAFE
Keep hands, feet and objects to self
Do not lean back in your chairs
BE RESPONSIBLE
Arrive to class on time
Be prepared for class
Complete work on time and accurately
Keep your personal area clean
Follow directions
Push in your chair when leaving your seat
Put all supplies in their proper place
BE RESPECTFUL
Listen without interrupting
Help others to be successful and feel welcome
Be accepting of individual differences
Be courteous
If students chose to be non-compliant after a teacher's request they will be sent to Think Time in another room. When they have regained control and are ready to be a productive member of the class they will be allowed to return. Three Think Time trips in any quarter will result in a lunch time detention.
PROCEDURES
Enter classroom with necessary supplies and take seat immediately. If there was a homework assignment please have it out and be ready to discuss it. Students may leave their seat to sharpen pencils, get supplies or move around the room only during independent work time. You will not need permission to do this. While someone is speaking to the class (adult or student) you should remain in your seat.
Homework assignments not corrected in class should be placed in the correct folder on the counter located in the back of the room.
Mrs. Christiancy's personal library books may be checked out by students. Fill out the card in the back of the book and place card in the black box according to author's last name. When you have completed the book, place card back in the pocket and lay the book on the top of the bookcases.
HOMEWORK
Homework assigned will be due the next day unless other directions are given. Daily assignments may be corrected and turned back in for higher points. All papers should include: subject, assignment, name and date. Points will be deducted for missing information. Daily assignments will be graded on a 1-4 scale. They are "formative" assessments. These grades will determine the grade for 'Work - Study Skills' on the report card. Quizzes and tests will receive percentage grades. They are "summative" assessments. Summative scores will determine the overall grade on report cards. This will insure that students are being graded on "learning" instead of work habits.
