Syllabus

Students will begin the semester by learning tecniques to improve narrative writing.  Expository writing will also be explored.  Several essays of each type of writing will be written, peer evaluated, and revised.  Writers will also be asked to reflect on their own writing experiences. The persuasive essay will be the final type of writing to be studied.  At the end of the semester, students will be asked to compile a Best Works Portfolio for the teacher.  This portfolio should consist of a second revision of several of their earlier writings.  This portfolio will make up 40% of the student's final grade.
