The Sing and Swing Choir is open to any 6th, 7th or 8th grader who would like to participate in an extra vocal music group.  We will be meeting before school on Thursdays this year, from 7:25 until 7:53 a.m. We will begin rehearsals on September 11th.  See Mrs. Cook in Room 138 if you have any questions.

The Sing and Swing choir will participate in the concerts on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 3:15 p.m. and on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.

The 7th grade festival is a new endeavor for our district this year.  We are hoping to have 30 students on a volunteer basis from our 7th grade academics connections classes participate.  There will be one festival:  one for the middle schools on the east side of 48th street and the other for the middle schools on the west side.  We will combine with Park, Goodrich, Scott, and Irving for our festival concert which will be held at Park Middle School.  Students participating will learn six songs during our music classes which will be used in the concert.  Rehearsals will be in the morning of the festival days and will feature a guest conductor.  The concerts will then be at 7:00 p.m.  We are hoping this will be an musically enriching experience for those students who want the festival experience and plan to include vocal music in their future class selections.

The 8th grade honor choir will consist of 8-15 students selected from each school to participate in an all city festival.  Three all-day rehearsals will be held before the final formal concert.  More difficult music will be selected to provide a challenge for these students.  We hope this experience will lead them to sign up for vocal music classes in high school.  The rehearsals and concert will be held at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Rehearsals...Tuesday, Feb 5 and Wednesday, Feb. 27, and March 10.  Concert is March 10 at 7 p.m.
