| Jomon Coil Pots |
The ancient Japanese Jomon Culture influenced the style of coil pots. The work focused on the art element Line and the art principle Rhythm. Artists were required to create a greenware vessel between 10” and 14” in height. The pieces are made with buff clay, stained 7% red iron oxide, and fired to cone 6. |

| Slab Box with Lid |
Continual patterns of Polynesian designs influenced the patterns on the Slab Boxes. The work focused on the art element Shape and the art principle Contrast. Artists were required to create a greenware vessel 4” in height. The design was impressed with a template made from illustration board. Lids were cut with a felting knife after the box was completed. The boxes are made with buff clay and cone 6 glazes. |

| Coil Vessels |
Traditional vessels from Europe, America, Asia, and Africa influenced the forms of the Coil Vessels. The work focused on the art element Form and the art principle Emphasis, Rule of 1/3’s. Artists were required to create a greenware vessel 10” to 14” in height. A template of the profile was created prior to starting the vessel. The project was made with buff clay and cone 6 glazes. |
