HONOR CHOIR OPPORTUNITIES FOR 2009-2010
2009 Nebraska All-State - November 18-20
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, November 18, 19, 20, 2009 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Auditions take place on October 10, 2009 at Lincoln High School.
Fee: $30 for audition fee and music.
Doane Vocal Festival
Sunday and Monday, January 10 & 11, 2010 in Crete, Nebraska.
Student needs to come and fill out an application, available in Mrs. Cotton's office, and give it to Mrs. Cotton or Mrs. Goldsmith by October 23.
Fee: Student will pay $37 if accepted. The cost will cover the cost of music, registration fees, and all meals in the Doane dining room.
University of Nebraska-Kearney Honor Choir
Monday, January 25, 2010
Auditions consist of a written excerpt and sing "America" a capella, in a comfortable register. The student will also have to fill out an application form that is available in Mrs. Cotton's office. We are asking that the applications and auditions be completed by Wednesday, November 4, 2009, so we can get the applications turned in by November 6th, the actual deadline date.
Fees: $18 per student - must be sent in with the initial applications and tapes. $14 will be refunded if student does not make the choir.
Hastings College - Nebraska High School Honor Choir
Audition on Saturday, November ? @ 2:30 at Lincoln High School - Prepared Aria/Art Song and Scale. Taped auditions are possible. Check guidelines at www.hastings.edu/hboc. Grades 11/12 eligible.
Fee: $35.00 if you make it. Music and meals on Friday and Saturday included.
Wesleyan Honor Choir
February 11-13, 2010 at Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Guest clinician is Tim Peters, Chair of the Dept. of Music and choral director at Luther College.
Auditions will be at LSW in early December. See Mrs. Cotton for
audition materials. Singers will be notified of status in the last week of December.
Nebraska Young Artist Awards - March 29, 2010
Audition tape -- Deadline: December 11, 3-minute solo, classical
repertoire, letter of recommendation. Open to Juniors only! See LSW Music Teachers if interested.
"Amahl and The Night Visitors" - December 10 & 11
This is a collaborative opera with LPS High Schools and the UNL Opera Department, under the direction of Dr. William Shomos. A vocal quartet from each LPS High School is selected by their teachers and rehearse with UNL staff and perform 4 performances for elementary schools and the public at the UNL Johnny Carson Theater in December.
