A main goal of my photography classes is to teach students how to see with a photographers' eye and discover the wonderful images all around them. Anything is a potential photograph and can be photographed well or poorly. Photography is an art of discovery. It explores the endless variety of line, texture, shape, light, motion and perspective-which are all the fundamental elements of artistic composition. A photograph, compared to a snapshot, is an artistic interpretation that tells the viewer something about the subject where the elements are arranged to work together towards a desired effect. The photographer pays attention to details in the frame and thinks while knowing and using photographic techniques and aesthetic elements.

Beginning Photography: In this class students learn the basics of black and white photography. This includes an historical overview, primitive and modern [adjustable 35mm] camera operation, lighting and exposure, film processing, printing in the darkroom, print presentation and exhibition of their work.

Advanced Photography Levels [Must be taken in sequence]*

   Photo. Techniques [Level Two]

   Photo. Styles [Level Three]

   Photo. Arranged [Level Four]

*Each level builds upon the preceding level while addressing more advanced photographic skills and techniques.

**Digital photography is here to stay and will be introduced in all photo. classes. We will continue to

build our curriculum in the digital realm of technology and offer this to our students.
