Ms. Bockman's Science 8

Welcome to Ms. Bockman's Website!

Motto:  Find your hill and climb it!

I believe that each student should work hard to persue his/her own personal interests. Hopefully, science will be a stepping stone on that hill.

About me:

This year (2007-2008) is my third year teaching 8th grade science at Mickle and my third year living in Nebraska. I'm originally from Minnesota where I went to school and did my student teaching.

In college I studied abroad in Tanzania for one month on safari. I also spent nearly four months in Nepal learning the language and culture, staying with a Nepali family and studying grasses in the tropical forest. I even got into the forest by riding an elephant! Below are some pictures of the Nepali landscape.

A year ago, I got married in Minnesota to my husband, Jim, who is a PhD student at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. We both love outdoor activities including camping, canoeing, backpacking, biking, cross country skiing, water skiing and swimming. I also love to cook, run and read. We have an exuberant kitten named Sathi.

Education Background:

Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota. 2004.

In progress: Master of Education in Inquiry Science from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
