Welcome to Brownell Elementary Physical Education

Hello. My name is Mrs Hitz. I am in my 8th year at Brownell and my 21st yr of teaching. I graduated from Lincoln
Northeast High School in 1981, and then earned my bachelor of science degree in 1985 from Nebraska Wesleyan University. After Wesleyan I continued my education and received a Masters Degree with an endorsement in reading from UNL. My first teaching job was in Valley Public Schools where I taught 2 - 4th grade for 6 years. I then got a teaching job at Malcolm Public Schools and taught 1 - 4th grade there for 7 years. In 1999, I was hired in the Lincoln Public Schools district to teach Physical Education and technology.
I am happy to be at Brownell as it is in the north part of town where I've spent most of my life growing up. I like the feeling this smaller school has as it seems to be more close knit.
My philosophy in teaching physical education at Brownell is that through movement and participation in activities children will improve their personal health and fitness . I want children active as much as possible and ready to learn and listen when in my class . My expectations would be that children show good sportmanship as well as respect for others at all times. I also hope to educate them on how to lead a healthy lifestyle outside of the school .
