Expectations

Rynearson's Class Expectations 2008 - 2009

BE SAFE

  • All students have the right to learn in an environment, which is safe and comfortable. It is every student’s responsibility to contribute to that safe environment. All behaviors in this classroom will be directed toward providing a comfortable environment where learning is maximized.
  • Hall passes are recorded in your planner and are for emergency needs only.
  • Ware your student ID each day to class

BE RESPONSIBLE

  • Grades will be based on tests, quizzes, homework, lab reports, assignments and a semester exam. Grades will be based on the percentage of total points accumulated using the following scale

  A  90-100%

 B+ 85-89%

 B   80-84%

  C+ 75-79%

 C  70-74%

 D+ 65-69%

  D 60-64%

 F  0-59%

Tests and quizzes will vary in value. Total points will be in the range of 800-1200 points per semester. Grades are generally posted on my web site following each test.

  • Science is an activity-based class, which makes attendance very important. Be here, ready to work, every day on time. Students late for class interfere with the education process for all the students in class. The LHS attendance policy will be followed see the student handbook for details
  • Assignments can be found on my web site http://isite.lps.org/jrynear/web or in the classroom. In general, two days are allowed for each day of absence. Tests must be made up outside of class time. Students should arrange to get class notes from another student when absent.
  • Students are responsible for completing their own work. Any violation of this rule will result in a zero for the work.
  • Students are expected to bring a working brain, your textbook, writing utensil, and notebook to class daily.

BE RESPECTFUL

  • Respectful and polite behavior is expected of all students. Discipline will follow due process guidelines of the student handbook. Inappropriate actions may result in
    • conference of the student,
    • conference with the parent,
    • referral to Associate Principal.

When asked “don’t you feel like a failure after trying over 100 ways to build a battery that works” Thomas Alva Edison replied: “ No, I know 100 ways a battery won’t work.” After over 100 more tries Edison invented a battery that worked.

When you run into problems, ask questions, get help work hard, and above all remember people like Thomas Edison and DON’T QUIT !!
