Answer any questions on research project

Present whiteboards for the M&M lab

  • how did you do the lab
  • information about your experiment
  • write information about each group that will help you determine differences from data you collected.

Wednesday

Finish presenting M&M whiteboards

-Worksheet 1 Graphing Practice is due Tuesday September 9th

  • LoggerPro is on the computers in Rooms: s382, media center or you may check out a copy out of the media center and put it on you computer at home
  • you will need to enter the data into LoggerPro, linearize the data if needed, write a mathematical model for the data, hand in one graph for each data set with (1) data table (2) linearized graph (3) mathematical model (4) your name and period

-Bring a dry erase marker by Wednesday

Pre IB-Physical / GeoScience
Day
Topic
Assignments
Monday No School, Labor day
Tuesday

-Answer any questions on the science research project
-Have 2 groups present their results of the temperature experiment

  • Give starting, final temperature
  • How much water they started with
  • Temp probe number

-Read “Errors and Uncertainty in Experimental Data” found on Mr. Putnam’s web site

Wednesday

-Have last group present their results of the temperature experimen
-Show class how to print graph on MFD
-Go over how to set up the computer so it can collect force data for the rock lab
-Have each group print off one temp graph for each person in their group

-Collect force data for the rock lab

-Temperature lab due Friday (must include)

  • Temp graph made on graph paper
  • Computer graph of temperature data
  • Summary using information found in “Errors and Uncertainty in Experimental Data” to explain differences obtained by different groups as well as different methods.
Thursday

-Anticipation Guide “describing Motion” pages 38-46

  • Directions for the activity
  • Do part one in class
  • Do part 2 for homework due Friday

-Finish collecting data for the rock lab

-Finding the average mass of a rock

  • Collect data
  • Graph data
  • Present your results to the class

-Temperature lab due Friday

-Rock lab due Monday

-Bring a dry erase marker by Wednesday

Friday

-Hand in Temperature lab

-Finish presenting Rock lab results

-How would you find the temperature of a beaker of water with a Thermometer that has no markings on it?  Think about this over the weekend and you will have a chance to work in your lab groups to develop an experimental procedure to answer this question.
-Mini lab page 40 (go in hall)

  • Use people walking 15m
  • Repeat 3 times and make a data table (trials, time, speed)
  • Find average time and average speed for the 3 trials
  • Answer questions for student instead of a car
  • Lab report due Tuesday

-Rock lab due Monday

-Bring a dry erase marker by Wednesday
