Assignments
Monday

-How would you find the temperature of a beaker of water with a Thermometer that has no markings on it?  Think about this over the weekend and you will have a chance to work in your lab groups to develop an experimental procedure to answer this question.
-Mini lab page 40 (go in hall)

  • Use people walking 15m
  • Repeat 3 times and make a data table (trials, time, speed)
  • Find average time and average speed for the 3 trials
  • Answer questions for student instead of a car
  • Lab report due Wednesday

-Rock lab due Tuesday

-Bring dry erase mrker by Wednesday

Tuesday

-Hand in your rock lab
-Answer any questions over chapter 1
--Warm up#1

-Beanbag experiment (constant velocity)

  • collect data
  • make a data table on the board
  • graph of total distance vs. total time
  • Lab report due Thursday

-Develop a procedure to find the velocity of 3 different cars traveling on Normal street.

-Bring dry erase mrker by Wednesday

-Anticipation Guide “Accelertion” pages 47-51 due Wednesday

Wednesday

-Check in dry erase mrker

-JR Anticipation Guide “Accelertion” pages 47-51

-Mini lab (outside by Normal street)

  • Find the average velocity of 3 cars
  • Find average time and average speed for the 3 trials
  • Answer questions: were the cars going at a constant velocity? Name 3 ways a car can accelerate
  • Lab report due Friday

Thursday

-Presentation by Jingyao Yu “The effects of solar flairs on cosmic rays”

  • 10 minute presentation
  • What makes this presentation so good?
  • Give students an idea of what a good research presentation looks like

-Go over Anticipation Guide “Accelertion” pages 47-51

Friday

-Look at types of graphs

  • What is a origin
  • Use motion detector to graph motion of a student
  • How do you walk to match a graph?
- Anticipation Guide “Motion & Force” pages 52-56 due Monday
