In 7th grade science, you will journey through the earth, explore matter, observe and interact with living organisms, and discover the environment and what we need to do to keep it healthy.
I teach using a method called Layered Curriculum that allows students to take more responsibility of their learning. Students will be given a sheet at the beginning of each unit. They must choose from a set of assignments that get at the basic understanding of a concept (Layer C). They then will be given a oral quiz to ensure understanding of the concept . After successful completion of the quiz, they move on to a set of activities, labs, and more that apply the concept to the real world (Layer B). Finally, the students create a project to show a mastery of the concept (Layer A).
