Below is a list of high frequency words and word family words that are taught in kindergarten. High frequency words are words that occur often in books. Word family words are words that are spelled with the same pattern and can be blended (sounded out). We will be working on learning these words throughout the school year.
Our goal is for your child to read the high frequency words quickly, without sounding them out. The word family words are words your child should be able to read by blending the sounds together.
