Oral Communication
Welcome to the Oral Communication page!
Oral Communication is a required class; students must pass this class in order to graduate from any LPS high school. The first few weeks of class are dedicated to communication process, intrapersonal comm., interpersonal comm., and nonverbals. Later in the semester we will study group and listening. There will be speeches through out the semester, but the two major speeches, the informative and persuasive, will be given around quarter. The informative speech and persuasive speech are the two required speeches that the student must deliver to pass the class, regardless of their grade without the speech. The hope is that at the end of the semester class, students will not only be better interpersonal communicators but also better public speakers.
The current schedule for the speeches is as follows:
Informative will be due October 20, 2008 at the end of the period.
Persuasive will be due December 1, 2008 (right after Thanksgiving break) at the end of the period.
