Turnitin.com Directions

Before you start turnitin, make sure you have timed your speech and it is at least 5 minutes.

THIS IS FOR A GRADE!

1. Open up www.turnitin.com (hold the control key and click on the link; open in new window/tab).

2. Hit the "new user" link.

3. Enter the correct ID and password.  See below.

4. Continue through the prompts to set up your account.  If you do NOT have an email address you may go to yahoo or hotmail and set one up, or you can use the following formula. Don't forget it- this becomes your login name.

5. Once you're through the prompts, click on the blue link that says "end tutorial."
6. You should now have a list of the classes you have signed in to.  One of them should be your Oral Comm. class.  Click on the title of the class.

7.  Next to the assignment you want to submit a paper for, click on the square paper icon that's in the submit column.

8.  Name the assignment.

9. Browse until you find your speech.  Hint: It's probably under the Edisk icon.

10. Hit submit.

11. A copy of the assignment will show up.  Double check that you are submitting the correct speech.  If it is, hit the "yes, submit" button.

12.  Wait a little while to see what the results are.  If you have too high of a percentage, anything higher than a 20%, should be closely examined and worked on more.  A high score means you have a lot of word-for-word in your speech, do more paraphrasing.  You should only have 150 of these words.  You can resubmit a paper and it will cancel your old one.  Do this if you need to.

13.  Be sure to hand in a copy of the final paper with a works cited (Noodletools).
