Course Mission Statement

To live, learn, and work successfully in this rapidly changing and global society, graduates from Lincoln High School will need to acquire different knowledge, skills, and attitudes than previous generations. The student will need to know how to learn in ever changing work settings, to solve problems, and to make decisions in an information rich environment. The student will use technology to enhance communication, to develop thinking, learning, and reasoning skills, to increase knowledge and understanding, and to increase productivity. In addition, the student will become more productive as learners and workers as they acquire and use technology skills.

Course Description

The student will understand the operations, application, and function of computers and related technology in a constantly changing global society. They will create, access, manipulate, and analyze information using word processing, database, spreadsheet, and graphics software. The student will also experience computer operation on a local area network, use telecommunications tools and produce a multimedia presentation.

Course Objective

The student will demonstrate competency and proficiencies in correlation with “Technology Proficiencies Graduation Requirement.”

The student will develop necessary interpersonal and life skills.

Grading

A point system will determine your grade. Point values for different types of work are flexible;
however, the course will generally use the following guidelines to determine points:

Tests

50-100 points

Chapter assignments

75-100 points

Quizzes and Daily activities

10-25 points

Final Exam and Integration project

200 points

 

At the end of the grading period, points will be totaled and changed into a percentage of total points possible. The percentage will become your grade based on the following scale:

A = 94-100%

C = 78-82%

B+ = 91-93%

D+ = 75-77%

B = 86-90

D = 70-74%

C+ = 83-85%

Below 70% = F
