Personal Reading Logs

Log what you read every day in class for 10% of your semester grade.  Since reading logs are done daily and in class, I may collect them without notice.  Each day is worth five points.

Logs should include:

•Date you read

•Title of book

•Page numbers you read during reading time

•2-5 sentences about what happened on those pages

If you are absent from reading time, read at home for 15 minutes and, when you log, note that you are doing ‘make-up’ reading and the date you were gone in the date column.  Your make-up reading needs to be done right away.  Please keep up with this.  I will accept make-up logs for multiple absences until the end of the next week.

When you finish a book – complete a book project right away!  Book projects are 20% of your semester grade.  See the handout for details.  You may use three days of in-class personal reading time for working on a personal reading project at the end of a book.  Log “working on book project” in the explanation column for that day.
