Explore connections with history and cultures through
Art History, Aesthetics, Criticism

and Multicultural education.

All people in all cultures make art.
Time, place, and resources influence how art looks, it’s meaning, and it’s value.
Art is made for many purposes.

Express Through Art
Art communicates ideas.
Learn to make knowledgeable choices to communicate through art.
Explore artistic expression
Learn to read and interpret artworks.
Discover artists’ intent by gathering clues from the time and place where the work was created.
Art is categorized by genre: still life, landscape, portrait, figurative,abstract, non-objective, etc.

(line, shape, texture, value, color, space)
(emphasis, movement, pattern, contrast, balance, rhythm, unity).

Work with and acquire technical skills in a range of art media and disciplines (drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, printmaking, etc.)
