Class Procedure
- Upon entering class, read the directions on the board. Pick up a textbook/ handouts and proceed to your assigned seat.
- When the bell rings, you will see a bell ringer activity projected by the projector onto the white board. You will have an assigned time to answer the bell ringer and hand in to the teacher.
- The objective and assignment for the day will be projected/written on the white board.
- Follow the directions given orally or written from the teacher for each assignment.
- You will be expected to work all period and turn in all completed assignments to the teacher.
- Four quality standards that must be met before students are excused from class:
- Everyone in their assigned seat & quiet
- Room neat
- Chairs & tables in the original position
- Books stacked neatly (or handouts returned)
- Teacher will dismiss class.
Grading & Make-up Policy:
Turning in assignments on time is the best policy for keeping up with class and not falling behind. However, all work from a current unit will be accepted until the last day of the unit. I will keep students current on grades by giving grade sheets. You can ALWAYS check grades from this website. I will update them at least once a week.
Student IDs
Student IDs are required at North Star. These are used for identification at activities, the cafeteria, for open lunch, media center book check-out, and office check in. There is no charge for the original.
Passes/Leaving Class
It is essential for students to be in class each period. However, teachers have the discretion to issue passes to students. The student planner will serve as a hall pass. If you are not in class and do not have a pass, you will be returned to class or taken to the office. No students will be issued passes in the first or last 10 minutes of class.
Tardy Policy
The expectation for students is to be in the classroom when the bell rings. When students are late to class it diminishes effective instruction and time on task. A student will be considered tardy if she/he is not in the classroom at the designated start time. Students tardy to class will result in a 15 minute detention after school that day or the following. If a student does not attend detention the day that the tardy occurred she/he will be reminded and be required to attend the next day. If the student does not attend the second day they will be issued a referral for non-compliance.
Cell Phone Policy
Cell phones must be off and out of sight during class time. Students are responsible for their own phone at all times, even if it is taken from someone they have loaned it to.
If the cell phone is used to make or receive calls (including text messaging) during class, the following steps will be taken:
First offense: Cell phone will be taken by the teacher and turned into campus security in an envelope stating: Student name, Teacher Name, Period, Date. A phone call home will be made by the teacher. The student may pick up the cell phone after school that day in the security office.
Second offense: Cell phone will be taken by the teacher and turned into campus security. Parent must pick up cell phone and sign in a notebook.
Third offense: Cell phone will remain in campus security office until the end of the semester. At that time it will be released to the student.
Anti-Bullying Policy
Lincoln Public Schools provides physically safe and emotionally secure environments for all students and staff. Positive behaviors (non-violence, cooperation, teamwork, understanding and acceptance of others) are encouraged in the educational program and are required of all staff. Strategies and practices are implemented to reinforce positive behaviors and to discourage and protect others from inappropriate behaviors.
