A Little About Mrs. Renken...
My name is Sara Renken and I am beginning my 5th year of teaching here at Brownell. I started here at Brownell in the fall of 2005 student teaching in Excite and 4th grade. I had great educational experiences in both placements and learned a lot. In January of 2006 I took the part time kindergarten position that opened up when there were a large number of kindergarten students enrolled here at Brownell. The following school year I signed on for all day kindergarten and it has been a wonderful ride ever since! Kindergarten is a wonderful and exciting grade to teach!
This summer, on June 11, my husband, Luke, and I welcomed our first child to the world. We had a baby girl and named her Allison Louella, we call her Alli. It has been a great summer adjusting to motherhood! Luke and I consider ourselves very lucky!
When I am not spending time with Luke, Alli, and our dog Sammy I like to run and work outside! I am also working on my masters in Curriclum and Learning from Peru State College. Needless to say I can keep myself busy! I look forward to the up coming school year and getting to know you and your kindergartener!

A little about Mrs. Johnson…
As a new school year begins I know it is always comforting to know a little bit about the person who is going to be teaching your child. It eases transitions, and helps put your mind at ease. Here is a little bit about me.
My name is Whitney Johnson and I am currently beginning my first year teaching at Brownell Elementary. I have an endorsement in elementary education from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. I was recently married this summer! We have no children, but we do have a Miniature Schnauzer named Jackson.
I look forward to this school year and getting to know both you and your kindergartener! Kindergarten is a wonderful and exciting grade, and I believe that we will work together to ensure the success of your child!
