Lincoln High Art Department

why the visual arts?

It seems that careers such as lawyers, accountants and engineers are the ones parents wish for their children. However, you might be surprised how important the arts can be to a successful career path. The creative "muscles" in this day and age of busy schedules and graduation testing are starting to weaken in our society. The minimal exposure to the fine arts (potentially only 5 credit hours) starves our children of their ability to creatively solve problems, hone their power of observation, make innovative new connections and view a situation from many perspectives. All of which are essential skills for any successful career. The future belongs to those who think creatively and the LPS Art Curriculum develops creativity more directly than any other curriculum area.

At Lincoln High, we encourage exploration and immersion into the visual arts of your preference. We have strong programs in drawing, design, photography, painting and pottery. And offer opportunities for Advanced Placement coursework in Drawing, 2D Design and 3D Design.
