Class Description
Language Arts 6D ~ AM Block
This class offers differentiated curriculum based on the regular curriculum. Differentiated curriculum is modified to suit the learning needs of gifted and talented students. Learning activities for gifted students may differ in content, process, product and the learning environment.
• Reading is taught through the use of a basal textbook and literature.
• The curriculum focus is centered upon the appreciation of authors’ writing styles and various genres. High Level thinking skills are needed to interpret the literature.
• Students participate in Writing Workshop each day.
• Grammar lessons are compacted and taught through the conventions of writing.
• Spelling is an integral part of this course. The focus of the textbook, Everyday Spelling, is the application of vocabulary, proofreading and writing.
• High-level thinking skills, quality workmanship and efficient study habits are necessary components for success in this class.
