Celebrations!

Happy Birthday to Vicki Fasnacht on Sept. 2 and Ron Murphy on Sept. 3!

The 40th and A Street Association invites all neighbors to an Ice Cream Social from 6-8 on Monday, September 10th at Our Saviours Lutheran Church parking lot.  Games, entertainment, information booths, and ice cream will be available for all comers!

Curriculum and Instruction

FREE workshop for parents of children in elementary school and their kids to learn quick, helpful ideas for studying spelling and vocabulary and improving scores on those weekly tests!  Monday, Sept. 10 from 7-8:30 p.m. AND Sat., Sept. 15 from 10:15-11:45 a.m. at the Bess Dodson Walk Public Library, 6701 S. 14th Street, 441-4460.  Bring a spelling or vocabulary list from school to use.  Parents AND their kids welcome.  No registration required.  This workshop is provided as a public service by the Nebraska Branch of the International Dyslexia Association, 434-6434.

Curriculum Night

At Curriculum Night, teachers present two classroom sessions, repeating so that families with more than one child can attend more than one grade’s presentation.  On September 11, our Curriculum Night will begin the first session at 6:00 to 6:45, and the second session from 6:45-7:30 p.m.  Expressive Arts specialists will present two joint sessions in the gym.  Other specialists (Media, Counselor, others interested) will present their two joint sessions in the media center.  Reading Recovery, Literacy, and Response to Intervention, as well as the Special Education teachers may be part of grade levels’ presentations.  Please mark your calendar to attend this important event!

Our first PTA meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the gym.  All families are welcome to attend.  Child care will be available, thanks for our PTA.
