Randolph SchoolÕs End of the Week Notes for February 1, 2008

 

Celebrations!

Monday, February 4th is the 100th Day of School!  This is a BIG DEAL in Kindergarten, First and Second grade mathematics!  The students will be celebrating in big ways.

Curriculum and Instruction

1.  From RandolphÕs Technology Planning Committee:  On Friday, February 29, 2008, beginning at 9:15 a.m., Kris Klem will be doing demonstrations in the media center every plan period on computer SMART boards and their implementation at school.   Please plan to attend if you are interested in learning more.  See Trish Kuhl with questions.

 

2.  February is Love and Logic Month!  Our staff meetings will focus on the strategies to achieve Love and LogicÕs main philosophies:  teaching positive, respectful interactions between and among children and adults; teaching children to make decisions based on choices and consequences, and teaching children to solve problems in a caring, supportive environment.  At our February staff meetings, we will learn and relearn, visit and refresh these main goals and some of the strategies to attain them.  Please bring along the handout listing the nine strategies, given to you at the January staff meeting.

Beginning Feb. 5, the table tarps in the staff room will be labeled with each weekÕs Love and Logic strategies.  As you and your team mates converse about Love and Logic, add your comments, successes, questions, and anecdotes to the table tarps.  These will be typed up and handed out to all at the next staff meeting for further review and practice.
