Great Expectations Team met on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 8:15 a.m. in Mrs. MahoneyŐs room.

 

Present:  Lisa, Jean, Kathy W., Jeanie, Kelly, Susie, Laura O., Lance, Pam, Wendy B.

 

1.  The agenda included a report on the Love and Logic Conference the following staff members attended in Omaha in November:  Lisa, Susan, Jeanie, Lance, and Cara.  These staff members will present Love and Logic topics at the following staff meetings:

Jan. 8          Lisa   Love and LogicŐs 9 Skills—handout and overview

 

Jan. 22        ___________________  Neutralizing Student Arguing,

                  Delaying Consequences, Empathy

 

Feb. 12       ___________________   The Recovery Process, Positive Relationships with Students, Setting Limits

 

Feb. 19       ___________________   Offering Choices, Preventative Interventions, Teaching Children to Own and Solve Their Own Problems

 

The GET members and staff who attended the L & L conference will decide who will present these topics.  The format will be:  overview of the topic, handout for reference, and anecdotes provided by any of the conference goers.  They will inform Dr. B. by Wed., Jan. 16 who is doing which part at which meeting.

 

2.  The NDE is sponsoring a Family and Community Engagement workshop on February 11 and 12 at the Embassy Suites in Lincoln.  Schools who are part of the SPDG (state professional development grant) are invited to send teams to this workshop.  Each school must send a team consisting of at least the following personnel:  one administrator, 2 Positive Behavior System members (in our school, thatŐs the GET members), 2 School Improvement Team members, and 2 parents.  Staff members attending will use their own leave days, and receive $100 stipend for each day, and the NDE will pay for their substitute teacher.

 

 

 

 

GET members received a handout about the workshop in the mailboxes on Tuesday, January 8, 2008.  Members, please talk this workshop up with your grade level/program teams.  Let Dr. B. know by Wed., Jan. 16 if you or a team member are interested in participating.

 

3.  Marking studentsŐ lunch choices is making a positive difference in the accuracy of the lunch counts.  Please continue this practice.  Following are how the grades indicate which students are lunch choice A or salad:

Kdg. = labels

First = name tag

Second =

Third = letter stamps

Fourth and Fifth = students mark own hands

 

4.  The end of the quarter assembly is Friday, January 11 at 9:00 a.m. in the gym.  A flier is going home with students on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 to remind everyone to wear blue and white.
