Great Expectations Team (GET) Meeting Agenda for Monday, Oct. 1 at 8:10 in Mrs. Mahoney’s Room

Systems Review:

Leadership:  Susan reported that the photos of students doing the code of conduct words behaviors have been taken and will be printed, mounted on the poster board, and hung around the school this week.  Wendy will check availability of a color printer whose copies can be laminated.

2.  Wendy will talk to the new Family Services Before and After School Child Care site supervisor, Jamie Kvittem, to make sure the FS supervisors are supervising their students until 8:55, specifically getting the kids to breakfast at 8:30 and out to the lines before 8:55.

Schoolwide: 

Parent – Teacher Conferences will be held in the gym Oct. 11 and 16.  Kdg. and First grade teams will come to a consensus of where their teams would like to be located:  gym or own rooms.  K-1 will report their preferences to Wendy by this Friday, 10/5.

• Nicole VonKaenel will help Lisa come up with some games and activities for Kdg. recess so the children learn to play safely.

• The first quarter assembly to celebrate achieving classroom goals will be held Friday, October 19 at 9:00 a.m. in the gym.  Before school will be treated like an indoor day:  students will go directly to their hallway lines indoors, and at 8:55 the whole class will come to the gym for the celebration.

• Lance asked about the difference between B.I.S.T. and B.E.S.T.  Both are models for use to promote positive school behavior systems.  Wendy explained that when Randolph began work (8 years ago) on PSBS, funding and training for our work came from a grant from the Nebraska Department of Education.  The NDE had chosen certain models or trainings for their pilot schools to use.  B.E.S.T. was the PSBS model chosen by NDE.  B.E.S.T. stands for “Building Effective Schools Together”.  The B.I.S.T. model is used by schools which are not part of the NDE project.  Both models consist of similar elements:  clear expectations, common language, choices for students, time out options, and more serious individual programming for individuals.

Individual:  Wendy reminded teachers to use the flip chart behavior guides when looking for ideas on individual interventions.
