Expectations
5 CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
1. BE OPTIMISTIC
The reason I teach science is because I love it. We will cover some great topics this year and I believe that YOU can succeed. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be teaching. I don’t care about your previous academic record in the least. You start in this class with a clean slate. Where you will go is ultimately up to you. Set attainable goals, and work hard to reach them. Not only do I believe that you can succeed, I believe that you will succeed. Join me in that line of thinking.
2. BE RESPECTFUL TO EVERYONE.
Everyone in the classroom will treat others with respect. Don’t be fooled, this is not another way for me to say “RESPECT YOUR TEACHER!!” It encompasses every relationship in this room. I will strive to treat each and every student with the utmost respect. Treat one another with respect. Treat substitutes with respect. How you treat and work with others reflects directly on your character. This is an interactive classroom where positive communication with others is essential.
3. BE PREPARED.
Every class is important. Bring something to write with and something to write on every day and have it out WHEN CLASS BEGINS. I would highly advise buying a 3-ring binder for this class only and keeping your work in it. If you need one I have them available for 1 dollar. This will enhance your organization and develop good habits for years to come. If you have another system that works for you, feel free to use it, but I will expect you to use it well.
4. BE INQUISITIVE.
Come to class ready to think. Communication is never solely one direction in my classroom. Ask questions, work hard, help others when you understand a concept. Be prepared for DISCUSSION. We learn when we question what we think we know.
5. BE DILIGENT.
Use the time you are given well. The theme of the classroom is learning. Work in such a way that you can learn and provide others that opportunity as well.
